James Peden, Wine Director and Head Sommelier
James has spent much of his life immersed in the Hospitality industry. Born and raised in Mississauga, James began his hospitality career working at his family-owned banquet hall. It was here where James sparked an interest in hospitality and dedicated himself to explore all avenues of the industry to expand both his knowledge and experience. His career as a server and bartender journeyed him to work at fine-dining restaurants throughout Toronto and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Rapt in the world of fine-dining, James discovered a new interest –the art of wine. After accumulating over 10 years of experience, James decided it was time to elevate his career and further explore his passion for wine by studying to become a Sommelier. In the summer of 2019, James passed his Advanced Sommelier Certification with the Court of Master Sommeliers. Today, James continues to train and develop new Sommeliers and is currently studying for the Master Sommelier Diploma. In September 2019, James began his role as the Wine Director for Liberty Entertainment Group (Liberty Group) and the Head Sommelier at Casa Loma’s BlueBlood Steakhouse. James brings with him an outstanding skillset, knowledge and work ethic which reinforces Liberty Group’s mission to delivering impeccable dining experiences, complemented with exquisite wine programs which include a grand collection of wines from around the globe.
